Yesterday I visited Willy Akena from the Diocese of Northern Uganda in Gulu. We went to Amuru IDP Camp anout 40 km North of Gulu. I will write more about it, when digested. It is heavy stuff.
Don't let yourself fool by the Ugandan friendliness and the so-called progressive president - Uganda still has one big problem: the about 1,6 mio. internally displaced persons in the camps in Northern Uganda, the abducted who are now returning, trying to integrate, and too many governmental representatives benefitting from a drag-out of the Peace Talks in Juba.
And for the record - for these people in the IDP camps there isn't a touchable outcome from the peace talks yet, though they have been going on since August 2006.
See more photos here.

Hi Comrade!
I don't think they are finished - I deliberately used the term 'dragged out'... ;-)
Thanx, thanx again for reminding me that I have to do something seriously about my photos. I am thinking.

You know, your pictures are talented. You should publish them, sometime. Seriously.
It's really funny how everyone started out with lots of gusto for the talks. All of a sudden, nobody was mentioning them. You'd be forgiven for thinking they are finished. Obviously, someone is profitting from it.
I'm afraid the IDP people won't realise any benefits from the talks, until the talks are successful. It's not enough to push Kony out. Things are deeper than Kony. They are older than he is. :o(
And please, please, tell your Diocese friends to enable non-members to post comments - I can't comment!
