PLEASE DO NOTE THAT I AM NOT REPRESENTING AFRICAN WOMAN. THIS IS ONLY A BLOG POST ABOUT AFRICAN WOMAN.
AS MUCH AS I APPRICIATE BLOG COMMENTS, PLEASE DO NOT DIRECT YOUR PRAISE TO AFRICAN WOMAN HERE - IT WILL NOT BE FORWARDED (SIMPLY DUE TO THE REASON THAT I DO ALSO NOT KNOW HOW TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THE REAL AFRICAN WOMAN.
Last year African Woman was launched in Kampala by the Uganda fashion business woman no. 1; Sylvia Owori. Every month it is torn down the shelves. Only 5000 UGX (app. 2,5 dollars). Most magazines, locally made, don't match the quality at all of the African Woman - content and layout wise.
It is a glossy magazine, but it is also a voice for women in Africa. It talks about health and illnesses, stress and oppression, it educates and inspires. The magazine shows women as being independent and self-sufficient and very far from the traditional image of the sub-servant African women, which is ingrained in a lot of us. It is a celebration of the African women, I think we deserve it.
(From the interview with Sylvia Owori in MS Uganda Magazine December 2006).

nice gesture

Kudos, Sylvia and Team! I look forward to reading the beautiful magazine. I just found this site and I hope to be visiting often. Is there any chance for the AW to be sold in London, Paris, New York? I promise you it would be in great demand as a lot of us in the diaspora hunger for this particular type of literature .. maybe we would also contribute (pro bono)! Great job!

Dear all who are interested in african magazine
as many will know african woman is a little over 2 years old and has just moved to kenya. One of it's main priorities is to set up a website and start a subscription service. It is unlikely that it will go to international stores as it is a magazine for african women and it would be a big risk.

Hi I just love your magazines. I have a lot of copies. The magazine is so interesting, educating, relaxing, relieves stress, enjoyable, thrilling name it. It's just SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!!!. Now my request is I have a friend I love so dearly...please I want to bring her down to African Woman magazine offices and you do for her a make over. She's quite beautiful but always dresses like a tomboy. Please advise. If it needs any payments I'll pay for her. I wanna surprise her. Thanks alot and keep up the good work.

i love african woman magazine and i adore Slyvia for her hard work and creativity, the models are so good u wld not think it's a ugandan magazine. It brings out the true image of a real woman and it helps me respect myself and builds my confidence & am proud to be a woman. Thanx to Slyvia!! God bless.
