Now the BBC also found their way to Arua which has resulted in an interesting article about how a town finally harvests the fruits of peace in spite of a troubled past ranging from Idi Amin, the West Nile Rebels, the Lords' Resistance army, Congolese rebel fractions, the Sudanese refugees... and a Ugandan government which has more or less ignored West Nile.
I do admire the northern Ugandans for mixing across the borders, for getting back on track, their speed and colorfull entrepreneurial style, and their ability to adapt to changes. Read the article here.

Good, friendly and considerate people. Good climate but sadly one of the most misunderstood people by the west.

Hi there,
No comments whatsoever. However, I have been reasigned to Uganda (Arua) as a UNHCR Protection Officer, and would be interested to receive any news/ stories/ whatever on that part of Uganda. I would much appreciate if you could just forward a mail or two on topics related to Arua.
cheers,
Veton Orana, UNHCR Protection Officer, UNHCR Myanmar
