Meeting with my friend Maduk from #Bor#SouthSudan, whom I used to work with on the #JongleiPublicRadio project. Updating on our lives, Bor and South Sudan, plus a short phone call to Bhutan to include another colleague who's on home leave. These kinds of friendships really keep it together for me.
If you are 'swag' in Tanzania, you are 'mjanja' (sheng) in Kenya. Hard to translate. It may be similar to a 'hipster' in Copenhagen or 'metrosexual'.
If you are 'mshamba' (Kiswahili for a person from the rural areas, 'shamba' means field/garden/land) in East Africa, you would be a redneck in other places. In South Africa, you may be a 'bosbefok' ('fucked by the bush'). See this blog post also.
